Funding for language faculty to present at and attend conferences is provided through individual departments/programs and the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.
Please visit this link for information on applying for these professional development funds: http://www.weinberg.northwestern.edu/faculty/research-funding-leaves/lecturer-travel-funds-policy.html.
There are no set deadlines for these funds, but it is to your advantage to submit requests to your chair as early as possible in the academic year.
CLI Special Funds for Virtual Conferences and Workshops AY 2021-22
Funding opportunities are currently difficult due to institution-wide budget cuts, as a result of which the traditional sources of funding (from the college, department, etc…) have decreased immensely. Thus, CLI would like to support our language faculty with a broader policy to attend virtual conferences and workshops in order to enhance teaching in languages during AY 2021-2022.
A language instructor may apply for funds to support “registration fee” of virtual conferences and workshops during AY 2021-2022 (a maximum of $300) and Summer 2022 (a maximum of $350) per instructor. This application does NOT require matching funds from the applicant’s department/program. Unfortunately, the CLI is unable to fund membership fees.
To simplify the funding request process, please fill out the CLI Special Funds for Virtual Conferences/Workshops AY 2021-2022 application form, attach the registration confirmation receipt (with the registration fee shown), and send it to CLI Treasurer, Chyi Chung (firstname.lastname@example.org). Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. At the end of each academic quarter (Winter 2022, Spring 2022, Summer 2022), we will collectively transfer the funds to your departments/programs.
Please contact Chyi Chung (CLI Treasurer) if you have any questions.
